Coolangatta ~ June/July 2014

Saturday, 28th June - We arrived just after 4pm after the big open day on the farm.

The sunset view to greet us

"I'm Mummy"

Sunday, 29th June - Ava was up early, so I was, too! We went to Aldi for groceries then the kids couldn't wait any longer to get into the pool. It's heated, but I still don't think it's warm, just not cold. Isaac bumped his chin on the bottom of the pool and had a little graze. After the swim we went for a walk along the beach footpath and around Kirra point, played on the rocks and went up to the lookout from the other side of the hill. We went through the Kirra Cultural & Community Centre, then to the lookout. On the way back we visited the regular joints...the second hand store and book store...then got some hot chips to bring back to the unit for lunch. Ava set up a picnic on the floor for us. At about 2pm we went down to the beach to build sandcastles.

Gorgeous colours in the morning

Monday, 30th June - In the morning we went for a drive to the Robina shopping centre to buy tennis racquets and have lunch. Then as soon as we got back we headed down to the tennis court for our first family game. Then the kids had a swim in the pool. And later Rob took them for a walk down to the beach, it was too cold for me!

Ava took this one

Tuesday, 1st July - Today was "Nature Day". We went for a drive up to Springbrook to see the Purling Brook Falls and a few other lookouts. We were very keen to see the "Best of All Lookout", to see if it lived up to its name. When we got there we realized it was one we had seen on our honeymoon. And it was good, but so icy cold!! It said 9° in the car but we were sure it was much colder than that at the end of the walk to the lookout.

Ava being a koala

When we got back the kids wanted to play in the sand at the beach. Isaac got rashes from the water. Then we came back and played tennis again. After that Ava wanted to go to the pool!

Wednesday, 2nd July - Mum & Dad came to visit today so we went to Aldi in the morning and waited for them to arrive at about 12pm. When they arrived we had hotdogs for lunch and then we all went down to watch the kids in the pool. Then we went for a walk up and down the main streets. Ava and I both found cosy 'blanket' jumpers. We said good bye to Mum & Dad at about 4.30pm then Rob bought us Thai for dinner.

Thursday, 3rd July - We left early (9am) to drive to Pacific Fair because Rob had promised Ava a Baby Born doll and Isaac could choose a game.  After a short walk around we found the best deal at Target and we had a very happy Ava, who named her baby 'Isabella' and Isaac, who found 'Gran Turismo 6'. After shopping we went to Surfers Paradise for a quick walk down Cavill Ave to show the kids the tall buildings that we'd been looking at across the water. We got back to the unit before 12 to meet up with Michelle and the kids (+ Indie). We had a giant game of tennis...9 on the court at one time...then the kids had a swim in the pool and the boys and Tiara sat in the sauna.

Friday, 4th July - On our last full day here we walked up to Greenmount Hill in the morning. Then the kids had a long swim in the pool. Isaac had an extra long one, Ava had to go with Daddy to buy goggles first because we couldn't find hers. When they finally got out of the pool we bought take-away McDonald's for lunch and brought it back to the courtyard out the back near the tennis court because Ava wanted to have a picnic lunch there. Then Isaac and I went to the movies to see "How to Train your Dragon 2" while Ava and Daddy went to the beach to play in the sand and then they had Cold Rock ice-creams.

Saturday, 5th July - We were packed up and ready to leave by 9am...after the kids had ice-cream for breakfast because we couldn't bring it home. We dropped in to Michelle's on the way home so Rob could see their new house. We were home at 1:30pm and there was our first pink rose to greet us.
